v5.11 incompatibility with earlier versions

I want to update a board created in the early days of ver 5 with a new

analog front end.  I have drawn the new front end in ver 5.11.  I can open

the old schematic and remove the old front end.  I can open the new v5.11

front end, copy it and paste it into the old schematic.  It looks perfect

in the schematic view but the layout view shows the new and old components

but with 50% of the component linkages (wires) missing.  The board passes

the ERC with no errors reported but visually it is a shambles.

What is the procedure to update an older board and bring it into 5.11?

thank you

Brian

    Thanks Warren.

I think the problem is I was trying to load new ver 5.11 parts back into a

ver 5.early schematic and layout.  I think I have it now.  I must first

load the new 5.11 parts then add older 5.xx parts.  The new 5.11 is

backwards compatible but the old 5.early cannot be forward compatible.

    Thanks for you speedy reply.

    Hi Brian

I would first check that the new front end nets are the same as the net

names of the old schematic where they connect.

They may look connected but maybe not. Do a SHOW in the area of the

connections or move a section and see if the nets are connected.

Maybe a  RATSNEST in the board editor will reveal the missing airwires.

When you removed the old front end from the old schematic, was the board

    also open?

Does the schematic ERC reveal no errors?
