Cannot connect nets

Thought I was getting reasonably proficient at creating my own devices

however I just created an 8 pin SMD device(DS1869 - digital pot)by

renaming/re-numbering the pins in an existing library symbol

(DS1621),saving it as DS1869-10DS1869-10 and connecting them to the pads of an existing

SO08-208 package. I don't believe I've done anything I haven't done before

however no sir wires will show up for any pin except ground no matter how I

connect the nets.

If I try to invoke pins it tells me the device only has one gate but so

does the DS1869-10DS1869-10. If I put that in the schematic though I can connect all

pins to existing nets.

What am I missing here? All I did was rename/renumber the pins of an

existing symbol, change it's name and connect those pins to the pads of an

existing package.

    Eagle version?

Did you copy the complete device to your own lib and then make the changes.

Also take a look at the mult package parts like the ttl lib's to see how

    they are put together.

Sorry, had the Eagle version in and typed over it. I'm still using 5.11.

Would moving the pins around on the original symbol cause this? I deleted

the device and started over (for the third time) by copying the DS1621

symbol, renaming the pins and connecting the pads to the same SO08-208

package but this time keeping the pins in the same location on the symbol.

It works fine in the schematic now.

The pin location on the symbol is the only difference I can see. The pin

    numbers were not changed.

If you change something in the lib you have to do the lib update.
