Exclude IC pins as via

Hello All,

 

I'm a hobbyst new to Eagle and I'm experimenting a bit with it. I want to build a two layers board using the auto router, however, since the board will be manufactured by myself it will not have plated holes so it can't have IC pins as vias, the auto-router keeps using them as needed. It is possible to tell the auto-router to not use IC pins as vias ? How ? Better would be to tell it what kind of components can be used as vias, for example, resistors can be used since they are easily soldered on both sides, IC sockets not (can't be soldered on the top side), is that possible ?

  • After experimentin a bit, I found that drawing a rectangle over the pins on the tRestrict, bRestrict and vRestrict layers has the desired effect.

    Hope this is the correct solution.

    If you want to use throu hole parts you could tell the AR not to use the

    top layer by marking it as N/A at the General-Tab. If the AR leaves

    airwires after finish, you could route them yourself on top and consider

    them as wire jumpers.
