Searching Libraries

e14 Contributor

Is there an easy (or any) to search through the libraries to find a

component? I don't necessarily have the manufacturer info for a lot of my

electronic components so it can be difficult to find the appropriate part.

Also, even if the manufacturer is known there can be nested groups so

unless you expand them all you may miss it.

For example, I'm trying to find parts for (1) Microchip PIC16F1825, (2) CUI

Inc rotary encoder (ACZ11) and (3) straight double row male headers (e.g.

p64 of Jameco's catalog) but not having any luck looking through the parts

list by eye.

Thanks Jim and db. I can't believe I missed the search box (or that

    wildcards would work).

No sign of the PIC16F1825 however it has the same # of pins as the 16F688

so I guess I'll look into copying that device into a custom library. If

anyone has a link to a good reference to do that, it would be much

    appreciated.

Microchip just seems to have them by package type. Search for: microc*

    For female headers search fe*-*

or just expand "pinhead" folder for males

    One easy way is....

    a) Go to eagle control panel:  Make sure that all the libraries are used

(Green ball next to the library name).

    b) From the schematic editor click on "Add"

    c) In the dialog that pops up near the lower left hand corner it will

say "Search".   Select all three checkboxes and then type into the text

entry the search term.   Use * for wildcards (eg "SOIC") to find all

    the approximately matching items.

    d) Use the least restrictive search term possible and then if you get

too many hits you can tighten the search.

    Jim
