Installing Eagle 6.3.0 on Kubuntu 12.04

I am having some problems installing Eagle 6.3.0 on my PC running Kubuntu 12.04 OS. After I run the eagle-lin-6.3.0.run installer, i get this error message:

./eagle-lin-6.3.0.run: line 108: /tmp/eagle-setup.5905/eagle-6.3.0/bin/eagle: Permission denied

I am logged in as root. Can you help me with this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Blaž

I figured what the problem was - Kubuntu has /tmp directory mounted as noexec. This is supposed to be a standard safety feature of many Linux distributions. The Eagle installer apparently creates a script in the /tmp folder and then tries to execute it, but the OS does not allow it. I had to remount /tmp as exec and I installed Eagle 6.3 with no problems.

    Hi,

maybe is there something mismatched in your configuration? There were no issues for me during updating on Centos 6.2 (the first time I have tried I did a mistake).

I have Eagle 6.2.0 already installed.

As I said, I get the error message when running the Eagle 6.3.0 installer from the command line:

    root@blaz:/home/blaz/Downloads# sh eagle-lin-6.3.0.run

    eagle-lin-6.3.0.run: 108: eagle-lin-6.3.0.run: /tmp/eagle-setup.4597/eagle-6.3.0/bin/eagle: Permission denied

This is all I get after running the installer. The folder eagle-setup.####/eagle-6.3.0 is created in /tmp durign installation and does not exist before the instalation. After the installation fails, the eagle-setup.#### folder is automatically deleted.

I'm sorry Richard, my fault. There is no issue with the installation of the new release on linux.

Blaz, which command did you use to install Eaglecad? Did you follow the instructions on the official Eaglecad website?

    Hi Richard,

I'm experiencing the same issue with Centos 6.2 (permission denied). I have Eaglecad 6.2 already installed. I don't remember similar issues in the past. Any ideas?

    Thank you in advance.

When does this error message appear? Is EAGLE already installed? Does

    the "eagle-6.3.0" folder already exist?
