Coordinate out of range problem, 4.16r2

e14 Contributor
e14 Contributor over 13 years ago

Hello,

In version 4.16r2 I opened a schematic I was working on and discovered

that one part "kicked itself over the fence". All by itself. Waaaay out

there, 10 miles behind the Klondike. When I try to move or even erase it

I get an error message saying it's out of range. I cannot just leave it

there because it'll mess up my netlist.

How do I fix this?

No idea what "Ko I Nors" is but I still have a lot of stuff from when I

was a kid. For example, I have a small ruler under my lab bench for when

I need to measure metric and such rulers are a bit hard to find here. It

has an imprint "Mach mit beim Schulsparen". That's from back in the

60's, I used it in elementary school. In my office bookshelf I've got a

book from my late father-in-law, "Neuzeitlicher Maschinenbau", for when

I need to look up engineering things outside of my turf. Somewhere in

there it says that RF is something mysterious and not yet researched.

I had a case this year that almost blew a design out of the water. Two

nets that weren't supposed to became connected in the netlist. Luckily I

always perform a 100% hand check of the netlist before I hand it to the

layouter. It can cost 3-4h on large projects but that's well worth the

time. I do this since I started my career about 25 years ago, regardless

    of the CAD system.

When copying stuff one has to be very, very careful with Eagle.

Hand checks always entice smirks when people see that because I use

crayons or color-pencils for that. Yes, my good old Hardtmuth Studio

"Buntstifte" from when I was in elementary school back in the 60's. Some

of them still have useful length left and the orange pencil might even

survive me some day. I got those in my "Schultuete" when entering 1st

    grade, in a leather pouch.

Those "Ko I Nors" are still alive?? image Mine are long gone.

Thank you for the offer but on this one I really can't, it's highly

confidential. I am just wondering how it can happen that the software is

able to error in a way that flings parts into outer space but then it

doesn't let you go there to fetch it.
