When viewing boards I find I sometimes want to view subsets of layers.
It would be nice if we could save layer settings to reload a previous
configuration.

Setup the layer setup what you want to save.
Type DISPLAY = ? in the command prompt.
Enter the layersetup name (for e.g. FOO_LAYERS).
Now when you type DISPLAY FOO_LAYERS the predefined layersetup will be
shown.
You can easily assign this command to shortcuts, or you can add it as a
button to the toolbar in the eagle.scr.

You can already use display aliases. That's pretty sufficient for me any
my "most often used" display settings.
