From what I can deterimine assembly variants are useful for:
- Making Do Not Install components no longer show on silkscreen or exported Bill of Materials
- If you have a variant of a part in the library for that part.
BUT it isn't helpful if you have two different parts with the similar functions in different libraries .... correct?
(i.e two different CAPs that have the same footprint, but are - say - different technologies (electrolytic and tantalum))
