Custom paper sizes?

Former Member
Former Member over 13 years ago

My local B size (11x17") has been having issues so I try to print to a

network printer (HP 5si mopier). Trouble is that the list of paper sizes

that comes up in Eagle 5's print dialog does not include Tabloid - which is

what the printer wants to see for this size paper. The ...dialog box to the

right side of paper select is grayed out.

Is there a way to get "tabloid" to be one of the menu choices?

    Hi Oppie,

You can't get tabloid as one of the paper choices, but what you can do

is print to PDF. The PDF printer allows you to set a custom paper size

and it will likely pickup all of the paper sizes from the printer driver.

    Thanks Jorge,

Printing to PDF is my workaround. Was hoping to find how to insert the

tabloid paper size that all my other programs support.

Finally got it to work the way I needed.

Was using a networked HP laserjet mopier 5si printer that is served through

a network printserver. Just could not get it to print properly on 11x17".

The Ah-Ha moment was in remembering that it used to work until the

printserver was migrated to another resource. Dang admin won't allow any

changes so had to do plan B.

Got the IP address of the printer and created a new printer port through

windows XP (local standard TCP port).

Tried several drivers but the one that did work properly with Eagle was

downloaded from HP (lj632.exe) and extracted to a temp file so the .inf was

available. Upon installing, use "have disk" option and point to the inf

    file.

Choose "HP LaserJet 5si/5si MX PS" for the driver.

I now have all access to setup since it is essentially a local printer and

set the trays to letter and 11x17"

Now prints beautifully.  Hope that this will help anybody having similar

    problems.

Works just fine on Windows XP; but not on Windows 7. Every other program can see the 11x17 option, what's wrong with Eagle?

I'm still using Eagle 5 and Windows 7 Pro SP1.  I had the same issue.  If you select Print to PDF and enter in the custom size of 11inch x 17inch (Don't Hit Print) THEN go back and select your printer it will leave the size in the box.  Then just hit PRINT.  Kind of a hassle, but it lets you print directly from Eagle to a B size 11x17 inch sheet without having to save it to a PDF.  Hope that helps.  I had to play with Landscape and Portrait settings but that's how I print all my drawings now.

    Best Regards
