Hello,
I have a non-plated mounting hole device in my library. This has no
electrical connections but includes holes, keepout regions, silk screen,
and other features.
EAGLE V6.4 (haven't tested in older V6 versions) allows me to delete the
footprint in the PCB editor. I know this wasn't allowed in V5. Not sure
why it is now. The device isn't deleted from the schematic so now I have a
schematic with this device (named MH1) but the PCB doesn't have these
device.
But worse, the ERC doesn't report this as an error!
Consistency at a minimum, in my mind, means that the netlist and BOM are
equivalent. But in this case the BOM is not the same. 2 things should be
fixed:
1) Deleting a footprint associated with a device should not be allowed to
be deleted in the PCB, even if there is no electrical connections.
2) The ERC should catch this as an error.
Cheers,
James.
