Eagle 6.4.0 free version unable to set min space below 14 mil for DRC checks

Just noticed something in eagle 6.4.0 free version that I have not seen before.

Made up a quick board using some tssop parts and got a bunch of DRC errors on the pads for clearance.

Double checked my DRC rules and it is all set up for a 6 mil space and 6 mil trace as expected for the board house I am using.

Did some quick traces with various spacing. Found spacing 14 mil and above work fine (and if I set the min space to something greater I get the expected DRC error)

But if I make a pair of traces with a 13 mil space no matter what I use in the DRC rules I get a DRC clearance error (even with a 1 mil in all the Clearance fields)

 

I know sub 14 space traces work fine in 6.4.x Eagle professional licene as I just finised up a 5mil space/trace card recently with no DRC errors.

 

Is this just a undocumented limitation of the free version? Or is there a patch out to fix this that I am just missing? (running 6.4.0)

  • Ok found it in the schematic editor under net class someone had set the Clearance for the default class to 14 mil. Not sure how that got set. Changed it to 6 mil and reran DRC on his board and most of the errors cleared up. What's left are real and he will have to patch it up. 

     

    So answered my own question. Thanks to whoever added the "Related content" box to the right. After reading a few of those posts it got me on the net class path.
