end of trace rounding

e14candies
e14candies over 13 years ago

I have some rather thick traces (for high current), but where they connect

to the through hole pad they have a lot of rounding that makes them

overshoot the component via & get close to the adjacent pad.  Is there a

way to make the ending a bit more "blunt", I'd like the trace ending  to be

"flatter" at the via & not overshoot the pad so much.

Polygons might works, but that would be quite a job to "draw" all the

traces, especially since they are not striaight lines,

As far as reducing width near the end, how do you pick what portion is to

be narrower?  If I click on change width, it  makes a who;le section

narrowr, say the trace was a 5 inch straigh line---do you require it to

have a bend to do this?  I really don't want to reduce it until its on the

    pad

You have to break the trace using the SPLIT command.  Just add another

vertex some short distance away from the pin.  Make sure it's not

colinear with the remaining trace otherwise it will be optimized out.

Then reduce the width of the short stub, and move the vertex to your

desired distance away from the pin.  Since the width of the trace is

different, it will not optimize the vertex out even if the two traces

    are colinear.
