Hello,
This behaviour is dangerous and I'd like to see a sticky way to turn this
off with the SET command (similar to getting back to V4 use of right-click
to apply command to group).
To be clear, this is the way EAGLE connects a pin with direction set to
"PWR" to every other pin in the design with direction set to "PWR" of the
same name. This happens even if the gate of a heterogenous device isn't
even instantiated or if the pin is left unconnected.
It is a bad idea to not be able to unambiguously determine a circuits
connections from a printout of the schematic. And this behaviour of EAGLE
breaks that rule of thumb dreadfully.
Internally, we've started to use a direction of "IN" for power pins. This
also gets around the warnings about "VDD connected to 3.3V". Those
warnings are really annoying and with multi-rails in any design of moderate
complexity the days of having a single power rail are long gone.
Some thought should go into how to make EAGLE handle multi-rail designs
better.
Cheers,
James.
