Some time ago I created and saved a new part in an existing library that comes with EAGLE. The library is "resistor-bourns.lbr". I created a new symbol and footprint for a trimmer resistor, and since it was by Bourns, it made sense to save the part in that library. Then I went about designing the rest of the board and everything went perfectly well.
When I opened up EAGLE CAD today, I noticed I could not find the library "resistor-bourns.lbr" anymore. However the parts I placed in my previous design are still present in both schematic/layout; a query on the device properties still references "resistor-bourns.lbr" in the information window.
However, "resistor-bourns.lbr" is entirely missing from the library list.
I thought perhaps this library was deleted or moved by accident. So, I restored the file resistor-bourns.lbr from a backup to the correct EAGLE CAD directory, restarted the entire PC and EAGLE CAD, and went to look in that library now that it appears in the main Control Panel > Libraries entries.
The new part I had added is still missing. Mysteriously, the part still appears in my schematic/layout of an older design.
Does anyone have any idea what is going on here? Much thanks if you can lead me to a solution.
