how can I see libraries in the ADD command?

I am totally new to Eagle, I only want to print some circuit diagrams I am designing, I have finally decided to try Eagle and am working through the tutorial. (there must be an easier way).

I have reached page 32, the ADD command, this says  'to select components from a library, click on the ADD command, the ADD dialog pops up and on the left side is a list of available libraries, each can be opened by clicking on it. Select an entry and the preview will appear on the right'

My pop up box is empty, i.e. no libraries.

How can I introduce libries so they show up on this dialog box?

  • OK I've discovered if I goto library along the top of the screen and highlight use then click on a library it shows up in the add dialog pop up box.

    Does anyone know of any good libraries in the list, there are hundreds, that would give me a list of passive components, resistors, caps, diodes etc?

    OK, there is one marked 'resistors, capacitors and inductors. solving my own questions.

    At the top of the screen is the command line (where the cursor blinks).

    There you type in :use * .

    (use space asterix followed by the enter-key)

    The asterix (*) meaning "all" brings all libraries "in use".

    Libraries not "in use" cannot be selected.
