Installing Eagle 6.5.0 under Debian Wheezy (installation script error)

netizenk
netizenk over 12 years ago

Hello my friends,

I am writing this today in hope that you might be able to help (or point me in the right direction)

I am attempting to install Eagle 6.5.0 under Debian Wheezy, but sadly I get an error that I cannot fathom out.

Initially I use the following

wget ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/eagle/program/6.5/eagle-lin-6.5.0.run

I then proceed to make it executable

sudo sh eagle-lin-6.5.0.run

However after a few moments it then fails with the following -

eagle-lin-6.5.0.run: 108: eagle-lin-6.5.0.run: /tmp/eagle-setup.17819/eagle-6.5.0/bin/eagle: not found

I have checked the run file and line 108 refers to

"$TMPDIR/eagle-6.5.0/bin/eagle" --setup

Sadly I am a little lost at this point and could certainly use some advice.

Thanks for reading

    I don't have Debian installed -- I use LinuxMint. Perhaps /tmp is

    mounted "noexec"?

    Hi Keith,

Sounds like the downloaded file might be corrupted, try downloading the

    file again.

Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you.

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia

Thank you for support, sadly I have deleted files and attempted the download and re-install just a short while ago, sadly the exact same results.

I will try again a bit later.... I seem to do my best work under the power of darkness image image

    Hello Keith,

being pedantic about your initial post, I see that you did not actually

make it executable, rather you used 'sh' which would run the script part

of the installer, but not allow the binary part to be executed.

    sudo chmod +x eagle-lin-6.5.0.run*

should fix this (if it is the problem).

    Cheers,

    bob

Are you working with a 64 bit system? If yes  there are probably

missing some 32bit runtime libraries EAGLE needs.

I am not very familiar with Debian but I suppose the libstdc++ 32bit

libraries are not installed. Please check this and then try again.

ldd for eagle gives the following dependencies:

             linux-gate.so.1 (0xb7714000)

             libXrender.so.1 => /usr/lib/libXrender.so.1 (0xb76ed000)
