How do I move/rotate values on a schematic?

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

hi all

seems simple enough.

How do I move or rotate values on the schematic page?

there is nothing to grab the text to move or rotate.

by the time you insert all the values in the schematic it's quite busy, especially when the text overlaps different parts.

has to be a way to do so, I just haven't figured it out.

Can somebody please tell me what I'm doing wrong?

thanks,

Mike

    You'll need to use the "smash" command, which will separate the values from the parts.

    I've never used it, but you can download the smash_all.ulp from the cadsoftusa website...

    you don't need a ulp for this. just group all, select the smash

    command and right click.

    there is also cadsoft.de, the original 8-)

    I'll let everyone know as soon as I can.

    I went to boot the computer and it was dead. As in a doornail. Pretty sure the Chinese power supply went bye-bye.

    Control-right click?

    [old-guy-learns-something-new section]

    I was toying around with this a bit.  Since I'm a hopeless command line addict image I wanted to see if I could come up with a way to do this by typing.  That would also let me put the commands in a script.  So, the hard part was figuring out how to reference the selected group.  At first, I thought I would need some kind of name for the group.  That way I could type:

    group all;

    smash selected_group;

    I even called Cadsoft support to see if they had anything like that (good talking to you, Ed!), but after thinking about it and reading through the "Command Syntax" section of the help file, I realized (d'oh!) that I could use modifiers and coordinates!  So, for you crazy power users like me, the magic incantation turns out to be:

    group all;

    smash (C> 0 0);

    (Explanation: "C" - control, ">" - right mouse button,  0 0 - coordinates of click...)

    [/old-guy-learns-something-new section]

    I always forget ...

    control-right click defaults to the pop-up menu nowadays but I've

    reconfigured eagle to the original behaviour 8-)
