Resolving YELLOW X via Keyboard command?

Former Member
Former Member over 11 years ago

From another post I have determioned that I have an unrouted connection that is described as an "end of a vertical (unrooted) connection".

Background:

I have a small SMD electret microphone (3mm dia) who pads form 2 concentric circles (like a target bullseye). The center pad *must* include a via to the bottom layer (of a 2 sided board) for routing.

I can not seem to finish this manual route through selecting via mouse... how do I route this and get rid of the *YELLOW X* ?

Is there a keyboard command that I can execute on the route?

Thank you,

-chuck

The cross is likely being caused by no routing between the top of the via

    and the centre pad.

    The quickest remedy is:

    (1) Drag the via away from the mic. pad. You should see the air-wire

attached to the mic. and via. (Remember the via must have the same name as

    the trace).

    (2) Run a top route from mic. to via

    (3) Move the via back under the mic.

Edit: #4 may be the keyboard command you are looking for

Adding to what warren said, the yellow x you see is where two same-net traces of different layers align endpoint to endpoint or endpoint to center.  You can get rid of this x by placing a via precisely at the center of the X.  However in order to do this, the X must be centered per your board grid.

    1) set your routing grid

example: routing grid of 2 mils

type the "" enclosed text below followed by enter

         "grid mil 2"

    2) Using the move tool press (left-mouse + ctrl) to select the endpoints of the traces,  By using CTRL the endpoint is pulled to the nearest grid point.

    3) Move the endpoints to where they are aligned center to center, and hit ratsnest.  You should see the yellow x appear at the new pseudo connection you made.

    4) either use route (left-mouse + shift) or the via tool itself to connect the traces.

    5) Hit ratsnest again.  If all is well the yellow x should go away.  Also take a look at the bottom of the eagle window after hitting ratsnest.  If all connections have been made you should see the message Ratsnest: Nothing to do!
