board size limit in Eagle 7.1.0 Windows Standard version?

Former Member
Former Member over 10 years ago

Gentlemen,

I've bumped into a board size problem on my 7.1.0 Windows Standard version of Eagle.  It does not allow me to place components on a board outside of 100 x 160 mm.  I can (apparently) set the board size larger than 100 x 160 mm and I can place components within the 100 x 160, but when placing outside that area, it responds with "The Standard edition of EAGLE can't perform the requested action!  Some objects extend outside the allowed board area".  I thought the std version allowed boards up to 4x4 meters.

Am I missing something?

Nope - the "Standard" edition is 100*160 - the "Professional" version is 4m

    • 4m - see their pricing sheet at

    http://www.cadsoftusa.com/shop/pricing/?language=en

The "Standard" edition is "Limitations: 99 schematic sheets, 6 signal

    layers, 160x100mm routing area"

You really could make your board as large as you want, its just a lot of

hassle, since you need to use the special placements to go beyond the

limits.  It gets annoying when you are in a hurry, so its easier and

beneficial to just get an upgrade & lessen the chance of making mistakes.

The cost of any rework should certainly be a factor.

I'm very new to Eagle (Standard Version) & I'm finding that I'm unable to place objects outside an area of about 4-inches by 3-inches.  That's considerably less than the stated 160mm X 100mm and I'm wondering if anybody has any wisdom they could impart to me to allow for me to work with the full PCB size.

    Thanks in advance,

    Brian

That sounds like the limits of the free version. Have you registered it

    and entered your license code?

    Hello Rob,

I don't mean to hijack the thread. I just need you send me an e-mail to

support@cadsoftusa.com. I have something of importance to discuss with you.

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia
