License valid for older versions?

autodeskguest

Recently I bought a standard license for Eagle SCH/PCB/AR. This is for

version 7. Some of my clients are using older verions, mainly V4 and V6,

not so much V5. Question:

Can I install older versions in parallel using the same license file?

The main reason is that when I touch any of their designs or libraries

with my new Eagle version they will not be able to ever open them again.

Of course then each needs its own eaglerc.usr which I think can be a

pain if I accidentally start it via menu instead of icons. Had that

happen when I tried V7 and it trampled a V4 library file.

For my knowledge - not ....

This is an old suggestion for CadSoft. But they ignored it, and I think

I know the (stupid) reason - pushing the customers to use only the

    latest version ....

Fortunately there are some work-arounds, search in the forum.

    regards

    Hi Joerg, hi Grzegorz,

the current V7 license is also valid with V6 and V5 versions. For V4.x

I am not quite sure... might work as well.

Concerning several versions on one computer:

Since V6 is is possible to start EAGLE with a dedicated eaglerc file.

    See the following article:

    Hope this helps.

Thanks, Richard. I had read that but it seems it won't work with V4. V5

isn't much of an issue, so far I haven't seen any hold-outs with that

version. Maybe the last resort would be running V4 in a virtual machine.

One more question if I may: Can Eagle V7 run in a Windows 7 Professional

64-bit environment or is it still 32-bit software like V5 as explained

    in the link below?

Happy New Year, Frohes Neues Jahr.
