Eagle ERC error.....

autodeskguest

Hi All,

I'm wrapping up a new design, and getting an error when I run ERC using

Eagle 6.4.0. The specific error is: "Uninvoked MUST gate G$2 in part FRAME1

(FRAME-LETTER)". I understand that ordinarily this type of error can occur

when some (unused) pins on multi-gate parts are left unconnected. In my

case, there are no multi-gate parts in the design at all. The only thing

that I can think of is that this design was originally created by copying

another design, and maybe there is a hidden 'scrap' left over that is

causing the error?

Any suggestions to eliminate the issue?

Thanks,

John

Did you try to type "invoke frame1" to see if something unexpectedly

pops up on the gate list?

    Hi  john

You should upgrade to the last version of 6.

6.4 was not a good version.

    Download from ftp://ftp.cadsoft.de/eagle/program/

    Hi Morten,

Actually, that's a 'new one' for me! I just tried it, and I get:

    G$1   LETTER_L   Next   0   1 (greyed out)

    G$2   DOCFIELD   Must   0   1 (active)

It's certainly more information, but I'm not sure what to do with it? I

tried a 'Delete G$1' and a 'Delete G$2', but gort an 'unknown part' error

    for each.

    Hi Warren,

After I finish this job, I plane to upgrade to v7!

    Good idea or not?

Unless there is something you really need in V7, or any new release of any

product,  then save the money. You can normally afford to skip one

    release.

Many have been disappointed in the limited feature growth that v7

    provided.

I suggest you read the release notes from your version through to the

latest beta versions, and any subsequent release. That will give you an

indication what has been repaired or the features that get inserted at

    point releases.

    Hi All,

This is still an outstanding issue for me, and one that I'd like to

understand/solve for the future! My board is done, and off to the fab with

(presumably) no issues, but still this ERC error is out there.....

Again, when I use the 'Invoke Frame1' command as suggested, here is what I

    get:

    G$1 LETTER_L Next 0 1 (greyed out)

    G$2 DOCFIELD Must 0 1 (active)

    Thoughts?

    Hi

Your board should not be affected by the error you have.

I suspect that you have a frame on the schematic but some how the Docfield

is not there when it 'must' be. So add it from the invoke dialog.

If it is already there, I would delete the frame and re add it.
