Hi everybody,
I'm an almost-happy user of Eagle Standard Edition. I feel a lot comfortable with it, but there are some improvements that could raise dramatically the beauty of Eagle.
(Not so) briefly:
- In layout designer, in order to highlight a routed wire, there are many workarounds to do it but they are very annoying. In my opinion ther should be an option to highlight the whole wire underneath mouse pointer, as well as it's done by other "competitors".
- Eagle has a huge amount of settings, some of them visible and accessible, some other hidden in eaglerc.usr. I can't find a parameter to set basic defaults like:
- when I need to put a text in the layout editor, the default layer is chosen by Eagle. Instead of this, I would choose an arbitrary layer and keep it in the program memory.
- a relevant quantity of PCB manufacturers has soft and gentle hands - sometimes too soft and too gentle - when they process the silkscreen. I would keep as default the 14% (or any other value) text ratio, instead of 8%.
- using the "both-sides follow me" tool (very useful) it could be a great improvement to receive some message about why sometimes it shows that prohibition sign instead of the mouse pointer. It knows what's wrong, why don't it also shows it to me? Why should I wonder where and what mistake I did in the parameters?
This is my first post here, I hope not being inappropriate. Thank you.
