Eagle 7.5.0 print scale incorrect, crashes, and bugs

xxxajk
xxxajk over 10 years ago

7.4.0 and previous versions did not have these problems.

Problems with Eagle 7.5.0 (Linux, 32-bit, x86)

When printing from the board, the scale is no where close to correct. Scale of 1 ends up too small.

Crashes horribly when exporting libraries, and in a few other places. It also seems to leave stale locks.

Releasing mouse button after selecting an object, sometimes clicks the first item on the popup menu, usually copy....

Anyone else seeing this?

    What distro?

When printing from the board, the scale is no where close to correct.

Scale of 1 ends up too small.

By how much? Have you made any changes to drivers between installations?

Keep in mind that you have calibrate entry on the bottom right of the

Print dialog to make sure that a scale of 1 is correct.

Crashes horribly when exporting libraries, and in a few other places. It

also seems to leave stale locks.

The stale locks have been corrected for 7.5.1, however if you are not

working in a team environment then you can just disable file locking by

going to the Control Panel > Options > Backups/File Locking > Just

    uncheck the file-locking button.

Releasing mouse button after selecting an object, sometimes clicks the

first item on the popup menu, usually copy....

I'm not sure what you are referring to here, could you provide more

info? Have you tried switching mice?

    Best Regards,

    Jorge Garcia

    Hi,

I had a similar problem when I switched with eagle 6.6 to a new

    operating system win 8.1 .

Scale was 1:1 but the print was slightly smaller, so I couldn't realise

    this fault at once.

Finally I tied a new printer driver and the problem was gone.

I cannot say anything to your crash problems, but testing prints with

7.5.1 did not show any problems.

Distro is DYI, based on Slackware.

Before i get into the whole printing thing, locks was easier to fix, thanks for the tip.

I did find a work around for the export library crash problem, Simply save the project first. Apparently if you open a project from a different version of eagle, then try to export libraries, you will get a double free crash. It may explain why there are some other crashes too, but save-all with the current version tends to fix this crash...

Note that you can only properly export libraries from the schematic. If you try the same from the board window, it seems that things get messed up, such as missing footprints.

    Now onto the annoying printing...

I print to PDF, and process the printing elsewhere. Drivers? No such thing, it renders to PDF, plain and simple. How much of a difference... well, substantial. You would need to be blind as a bat to not see how much. Something on the order of 50% smaller. I have not actually measured this yet, but it is safe to say that something isn't right.
