Rotate Symbols?

Former Member
Former Member over 9 years ago

I am trying to create symbols for a BLDC motor and for a 3-phase generator but I can't find an easy way to rotate the coils the required 120 degrees.  This is for documentation purposes and following local standards.

I understand that the pins have to stay on the grid for connectivity but some way to rotate the graphics would be useful. Any ideas?

You first use SMASH command on group of symbols and then change font to one that can rotate. Please mark correct if this works.

    Clem

    PS here is syntax image

    Function
    Separates >NAME, >VALUE, >PART and >GATE texts from elements.

    Syntax
    SMASH *..

    Mouse
Right button applies the command to the group.

    Keyboard
    Shift reverses the text separation.

    See also NAME, VALUE

The SMASH command is used with elements in order to separate the text parameters indicating name and value from the element. The text may then be placed in a new and more convenient location with the MOVE command.

Use of the SMASH command allows the text to be treated like any other text, e.g. CHANGE SIZE, ROTATE, etc., but the actual text may not be changed.

A "smashed" element can be made "unsmashed" by clicking on it with the Shift key pressed (and of course the SMASH command activated).

That won't work, he's not trying to rotate text, he's trying to rotate a drawing of a coil by 120 degrees.

Thanks Clem, but rachaelp is right, the issue is not with the text but with the symbol itself.

The only way I could come up with is to import a bitmap image, but I am trying to avoid it - the final print quality suffers and it negates the advantage of using Eagle for this job. Did I mention I do not like Visio?

Sounds like a new requirement for a future release.image
