Continuity of part numbers (Uxxx) between sheets

Non-profit version, 7.0.  (revision 7.4)

 

I have a design made of multiple sheets with op-amps across the sheets.

 

Say I have a particular part on sheet #1 and use one section.

 

If I add the same part to sheet #2, the program runs to the next sequential IC number (say U1 is used on sheet #1, but only one section.  The part put on sheet #2 will be U2, for example, section #1).

Gateswap does not work over sheet boundaries.  Invoke does not remember the part from sheet #1, and copy (just the IC itself) also renumbers to U2)

 

About the only way I can figure out to do this would be to combine all the circuitry on one large page, but that would result in a very cumbersome and unprintable schematic.

 

What am I missing?  I haven't seen a ULP that might help, but the ULP index is unavailable.

    Hi Harvey,

     

    I've just tested this and it does work using the invoke command. The procedure is as follows:

     

    1) Add your initial gate from the device to the sheet you want it to be on. Look at it's reference, for this example lets say it is U1.

    2) Switch to the sheet you want to place the second gate from the device.

    3) Type INVOKE U1 <enter>

    4) A dialog box will pop up so you can select which of the remaining gates in the device are available.

    5) Select the one you want and place it.

    6) Repeat until all the gates you want to use are placed.
