How do I drill a hole without etching away the copper around it?
How do I drill a hole without etching away the copper around it?
Hi Mike,
I assume you mean you want the copper to go right up to the edge of the hole?
There are two things which make EAGLE automatically put a clearance around the hole. First the DRC setting in the Distance tab for Copper/Dimension and second the Isolate attribute of the polygon properties for the copper plane you are wanting to go right up to the hole. Unfortunately both these settings will affect more than just the hole you are concerned will and will affect the whole board or polygon respectively.
Alternatively you could possibly mark the holes on the milling layer and speak to your PCB manufacturer about drilling them rather than specifying them as drill holes in the board.
Best Regards,
Rachael
