Non-visable remnant?

jerry323
jerry323 over 9 years ago

Sometime during a PCB design using the pro version of Eagle 6.5, something happened to cause the extents of the design to increase drastically.  The board out line is approximately 0.6 X 2.5 inches, but when I do a zoom to fit, the visable page zooms out to include a significant area (39" X 80").  I thought there might be a remnant on a layer placed way outside the board outline, but attempts to do a block delete finds nothing.

Generating Gerber files also include this extended area!

Any one know  how to delete all outside the board outline, or anything that would cause this issue?

Thanks for the group's help

Rachael: Good work! The cut, zoom extents, find remnant plan didn't work, because it wanted me to do that with the coupled schematic (couldn't cut). However, the group copy and paste to a new board worked…

    Hi Jerry,

Did you turn all the layers on when you tried to do the block delete? It

could be something an any layer at all so that's something to try.

Alternatively you could try opening two copies of EAGLE and copying all

your board design data into a new board. Then close all your EAGLE windows

down and with a bit of file renaming to make your new .brd file pair with

your old .sch file hopefully it should all still back annotate correctly

with the original schematics. Again, make sure you have all the layers

switched on and only select and copy anything from the area of the board

    itself.

Make sure you take backups and keep them safe before doing anything like

that though just to be extra safe.

    Best Regards,

    Rachael
