Hi Ivan,

I think a lot of people will be eating Turkey today (which will include me shortly!) rather than being on here so you may be out of luck for a quick answer. I use EAGLE on my Mac but unfortunately until your post I didn't know about MacSpice!!! I've now got it installed and will see where I get to with getting it working.

Jorge Garcia from Autodesk is currently working on porting the LTSpice export ULP function to Linux and Mac, currently he's targeting the latest Windows version of LTSpice running under wine for both (as LT haven't updated the Mac version yet). He's probably going to be able to give some advice on how to solve your issue but he's probably out on vacation now I would imagine. I think this might be a good thing to work on an official export ULP for too so maybe we can talk Jorge into adding that to his list while he's got his head around SPICE

Jorge, you can install MacSpice from Homebrew. Just do: brew install Caskroom/cask/macspice

Anyway, if I find time to have a go with MacSpice myself over the next few days I will post back up if I get anything working.

     The thing with MacSpice is that it works only with netlists and doesn't have a greaphical method to put your circuits.

Eagle is primarily a PCB layout tool, not a generic schematic capture

tool for simulation. Since there isn't a physical device like an ideal

voltage source, you won't find one in the libraries.

Of course there's nothing stopping you from creating such a device in

your own library and adding it to a schematic.

This is true but all the big three vendors have well integrated simulation

add-ons I believe and it makes sense to try to integrate simulation as

closely with your actual schematics as possible rather than having to draw

things out several times in different tools. CadSoft sort of integrate with

LTSpice and did a better job with PCBSim (or whatever it was called) but

the latter is windows only and the former doesn't yet have a fully working

export ULP. I think any efforts that bring better integration of EAGLE and

simulation tools (not just spice but other SI tools, thermal analysis, etc)

is very worthwhile as it's one of the current weak points in my opinion.

This is what I would do. I'd create a library especially for simulation and

add all the source and measure parts into there. These can have various

attributes associated with them to pass to the simulation tool. I'd also

add an attribute to any parts in the library that have spice models

available to specify the model and have a folder in the library to contain

the models. Finally I would write ULP to export a netlist and some UI add

in's to interact with MacSpice.

Thank you for the answer! I didn't know it is possible to create such sort as your own component I will look for help and try to do it.

This is what I am trying to do now. LTSpice has a mac version as well, but it is alwful that is why I am trying to work it out on MacSpice.
