dxf boardoutline

Hello i think i have posted in the right section this time, so i have drawn a dxf for my board outline in eagle not a terribly complex shape http://www.takachi-enclosure.com/data/c16-17/2016-043-48.pdf#6 .But when i import the dxf file into eagle using the import-dxf.ulp script i get some pretty rough edges on the arc and curves and some little tiny lines show up on the top copper layer.Iam more concerned of the tiny lines running across the top copper, but Is this just the limits of this script or is there anything i can do to round out all the rough edges and get rid of the lines thanks?

Iam using eagle 7.3 and have already tried in version 7.6 as well.

Here are what any of the arcs look like granted its not terrible but if i can make it better i will.My fab house said the line's wont be a problem but again if i can completely get rid of what is causing it i will.

The dxf is designed in Autodesk AutoCad 2015 in my original drawing of the dxf it would only draw straight lines none of the arc's or bend's in eagle would show up only straight lines, while saving the dxf in R12/LT2 dxf format any other dxf format would draw nothing in eagle.but since i completely redrawn the dxf i can save it in any dxf format and eagle will import but with the edges and lines.any input is appreciated thanks

    Hi,

I make the PCB complete in Eagle.

You can draw this outline on the layer 20, Dimension; also for milling on the layer 46, Milling.

It seems the PCB have a symmetrical shape.

You can draw one half of the shape, then copy and mirror to the other side.

Its very easy with drag and drop.

    Regards

    Gerald

I think for the case the OP has given here you are right, it's simple enough to be drawn directly in EAGLE. But there are times when the board outline, holes, millings etc are a lot more complex with very accurate positioning required and the details are available already in AutoCAD from the mechanical engineers tools. It should be possible to reliably import DXF files into EAGLE to accurately replicate what the mechanical engineer designed. Fortunately now Autodesk own EAGLE they are responsible for both ends of the process so if something is broken here then it should be easier to get it fixed image

    Best Regards,

    Rachael
