Using a LSM330DLC with ATMEGA328-MMH using I2C

Hello,

I have been trying to connect a  LSM330DLCLSM330DLC to an  ATMEGA328-MMHATMEGA328-MMH I have tried connecting it with I2C but I only connected the SDA and SCL lines Just wondering if i need to connect any of the other lines as i have no clue how to use SPI or anything I just need to know before I get my board manufactured

Thanks,

Lucas

    Hi Lucas,

This probably isn't the correct forum section to post this as you've posted in the EAGLE suggestion section which is for ideas for enhancements to EAGLE.

However, I've had a quick look at the data sheet for the  LSM330DLCLSM330DLC to see if I can spot anything else. Have you pulled CS_G and CS_A high to enable I2C mode? You'll need to use DEN_G to enable the gyroscope data and you might also want the data ready and interrupt signals connecting across (DRDY_G/INT2_G, INT1_G, INT2_A ,INT1_A) so you know when to read the data otherwise you'll spend a lot of time polling. Finally don't forget the pull up resistors on the I2C I know it's an obvious thing to state but I have seen people forget these before!

With regards to SPI, it's not a difficult interface to use. From a hardware perspective it's a slightly different topology and you'll need to change the software to configure an SPI interface rather than I2C. It's worth learning how to use SPI at some point as there are a lot of devices out there that use it.

    Good luck!

    Rachael
