Netclass, is it only for autorouting?

Hi,

I am not a fan of autorouting of any kind. So, the drudgery/art of the layout is personal and an art form in itself.

Now my only complaint is that the details, such as width of a trace, is not carried through to the traces when laid on the board.

This is a time consuming problem that requires the mindset of the engineer to constantly be aware of, and diligent in the established carry through characteristics of net classes from schematic capture.

I sincerely hope that I am wrong!

How say an experienced user?

Hello Marcus,

I hope you're doing well. The settings of the netclasses can be applied
while routing manually. Just make sure that the "autoset route width and
drill" option in Options > Set > Misc is checked.

Now when you are manually routing the traces will automatically pick up
the characteristics defined in the netclasses.
