Connecting pads in board design

I'm designing a simple part for my hobby use, and I started making it in the package editor in a library, but I've decided that I don't want to use it in schematics. I want to have a PCB manufacturer make it, so I created a new board design, but how do I connect the pads together? I saw a discussion on here that said holding CTRL will let you connect manual routes to and from pads, but it looks like crap, ie the lines are not aligned to a particular degree. They're crooked. I had a nice-looking design in the package editor for the library, but I can't figure out how to get that into a board design, which was why I was forced to start from scratch a second time.

 

I'm new to Eagle, trying to make stuff for hobby use, but all the tutorials and videos I watch are overly complicated for what I'm trying to do. This is the design I made in the library package editor: http://i.imgur.com/QCYBflE.png

I have a hard time making it perfectly straightly aligned doing it manually. The other question I have is are those the right lines to use that PCB manufacturers use to connect the pads? I just don't know if I'm doing it right. Most videos I've found try convert a schematic to a board, but I don't want to due to the simplicity of the board.

    The OP has been using the via tool to place vias directly to the board

    and refers to them as pads.

     

    'Pads' can only be created placed when creating a package using the PAD

    tool in the package editor within a library.

     

    In the Board editor, vias look the same as pads and so will serve the

    same purpose but the Signal tool will not connect vias. If you give the

    vias you want connected, the same name,  using the  NAME tool, airwires

    will be added automatically. An airwire is the same whether arrived at

    this way or applied between pads from a package added to the board from

    a library and then connected using the SIGNAL tool.

     

    Putting these airwires in place means the routing tool will connect to

    the end of the airwires which will be the centre of the pad/via and

    hence the traces should be vertical. The OP example images suggest the

    routing was ending on a grid point.
