How to define a pad to be only on bottom layer?

zaaphod

I'm trying to create a part in a custom library, is there a way to define a pad to be only on the bottom layer for a through hole component?   The issue I am having is that that I wish to have silk screening over part of the area the pad occupies, but I don't need the pad on the top layer at all.   Is there a way to create a bottom layer only pad, or to remove the top layer pad an solder mask for just a few components?

The quick answer is no. This is not possible because Eagle puts plated

pads anywhere on a 2+ layer board, so even if you remove copper at one

side, the rest-ring needed for plating will still stay.

There are ways you could hack this in place, but it sounds to me like it

is not worth the effort and risk if its just to get some silk in.

Disclaimer:My knowledge is based on Eagle v7 only, as I am not fully

updated to what v8 can do.
