Manufacturer wants RS-274X, I want to use custom silk screen layer

purged

Hey guys, I am all in favor of the new Gerber X2 format, but I ran into this problem:

Manufacturer only accepts RS-274X, which the latest Eagle version can still export as Legacy.

But to change my silk screen layer from standard tNames, tPlace etc. to my own custom layer I have to convert to the new format.

Is there any way to put out RS-274X with customized layers?

Thank you

    Alright, I did it "manually":

    1. Draw a frame around the board outline on a layer that is irrelevant for the manufacturing like tRestrict
    2. Export legacy RS-274X files normally
    3. Make a copy of the .brd file
    4. In the copied file delete everything except for the irrelevant frame and your custom silkscreen layer
    5. Move custom silkscreen layer to the regular silkscreen layer e.g. tPlace
    6. Export legacy RS-274X files of that board
    7. Replace silkscreen file from step 2. with silkscreen file from step 6.
    8. Send everything to the manufacturer and let him get away with not supporting Gerber X2 for now ...
