NC Pin

hi, I have some unconnected output pins in my schematic and don't know what to do with them.I searched the question online but I got confused. Some said it's ok to leave it not connected, some said if it has nothing at all there will also be no pad at that pin which can be a problem. Someone here has any experience about this? Thx for your help.

    Greetings,

It has been my experience that if the manufacturer lists the pin as N/C, then nothing needs to be connected to that pin.  I always place a pad for the N/C as it will help mechanically stabilize the part (as well as act as a potential heat dissipation for the part).

    I hope that helps.

    Gene

As far as Eagle is concerned, there is no need to do anything with

unconnected pins; Eagle will not remove the pad for an unconnected pin.

Board fabricators will put copper wherever the Gerber file says to put it.

Whether leaving a pin unconnected is acceptable from an electrical

perspective depends on the device and the pin.
