How can I copy a symbol or a package from one library to another one?

hi,

in my libraryies there is no device XC6206 (a SMD LDO) but a very similar one (MCP1703). Now I want to generate a new device with the package from MCP1703 and the symbol of MCP1703. But the symbol needs to be changed. The new device shall be located in an extra library because I don't want to change the original library. Not to change original libraries is recommended in an EAGLE tutorial.

After generating a new device, accoring to the tutorial, I wanted to add the package from MCP1703,@ but clicking on "Add" shows an empty list of packages and symbols.

How can I get the package and symbol from the original library to my library?

    Hi

    (1) Open your destination library, the one you will copy the MCP1703 to.

    (2) Go back to the Eagle control panel and find the MCP1703  device

    (3) Right click on it

    (4) Select 'Copy to Library'

    (5) The MCP1703 has now been copied to the library you had opened in step 1
