Hi,
I am trying to decide whether I should buy a linux license or a windows
license for eagle. I really want to use eagle under linux, but I have a
few concerns:
- I am using gentoo linux. This linux distribution is moving quite fast
and so I am updating the distribution quite often. So, three important
external dependencies of eagle will change quite often, which are
Xorg, the linux kernel and cups printing system. I am afraid that
eagle will stop working at some point in the future because of an
incompatibility. What kind of experiences did the community have in
this regard? Are the developers of eagle keen to make eagle work with
the new versions of the X windows environment and the kernel? Or is
there a "recommended linux distribution" and with any other linux, you
are on your own?
- Manufacturers of printers tend to focus on developing windows
drivers. I am afraid I will run into limitations and issues regarding
to printing when I use the linux version.
I would hate to have to use eagle under windows, so I hope to hear that
I don't have to worry about the above ...
