Replicate blocks

Hello,

 

Until Eagle has a hierarchical structure, it would be very useful to

have a method for replicating certain circuit subcomponents.  For

example, certain analog and RF blocks are very sensitive to layout.

Certain digital blocks may have large numbers of connections that could

be error-prone.

 

Is there a way to simulate a hierarchical structure with the existing

Eagle?  Can a single module be developed, then saved as a library

element, with a black-box schematic (or a GIF of the actual schematic),

and the correct layout.  Of course BOM generating functions would be

thrown off.  I'm just wondering if anyone has found an effective way to

accomplish this.

 

I really think if Eagle gets a hierarchichal structure and the ability

to read manufacturer-supplied package/schematic symbols, then people

would start converting to Eagle in droves.

    It can be done in Eagle although it's not particularly straightforward.

     

    Look at the posting of 23/1/2008. Mickey Reilley gives a pretty good

    description of the process in the thread "Again, How to copy group of

    objects in Schematic Capture?"
