You can use gnd@1 and gnd@2 and they will show as gnd. Overlapping pads
will give DRC errors.
If you need extra copper and don't want DRC errors you will have to add
a named a polygon to the board over the area after you place the part in
the layout. Solder mask and other non-copper items can go in the
device's footprint.
