I am considering bidding on a project that is a re-design of an existing
EAGLE project. The schematic is on 5 sheets, but the board is only 4" x
4". I have a non-profit license and I know that I will have to upgrade
if I make money with EAGLE. If my math is correct, upgrading all 3
modules to the standard version is $472 ( (3*$199)-$125) ), and
upgrading just the schematic editor and the board editor to the
Professional version is ~ $700(?).
Can I just upgrade to the Standard license (small board size) or do I
have to upgrade to the Professional license because of the multiple-page
schematic? I cannot afford to upgrade to the Professional license at
this time. And even if I could, as far as I know, EAGLE v5.x
a) does not support hierarchical sheets and
b) only allows a rectangle (vs polygons) for SMD pads and does not allow
joining SMD pads in a part's library footprint (*.pac). So I've added
an additional trace on the board and made DRC unhappy ;(
