CAM bottom paste layer issue...

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 17 years ago

Hi, I though that I understood this but apparently not and I would

appreciate some help:

I have never had SMT parts placed on the bottom layer until now so the fact

that Eagle has layer 32 (bottom paste) disabled never bothered me before.

Now I need it. I have edited the Eagle.scr file so that layer 32 is used but

I still can't get the layer to appear when I restart Eagle. It DOES appear

if I run the Eagle script once Eagle has started my board. But while the

layer then shows up in PCB it does not show up in the CAM processor so I

can't output a stencil Gerber. What am I missing?

Thanks...

If I understand correctly, layer 32 appears in the DISPLAY layer list,

but not in the CAM Processors layer list.

Did you save the board file after runnning the eagle.scr file to

activate layer 32? I suppose you changed SET USED_LAYER there.

The used_layers are stored in the brd file, the CAM Processor loads

the file and does not know about displaying layer 32.

Thanks Richard. Saving the file made the difference. I had thought that the

eagle.scr ran each time the board was opened, so I could not explain why the

board seemed to revert and not show the layer. Disclaimer: I should know

better than to try to make sense of anything while I have the flu!

    Regards,

    Ira
