What are you doing here, publishing the license file and code here? fine, fine ....
There is also an activation key in the packaging or on the license key diskette, with which you can activate your software license.
Or, if you got the license via email, then the activation key is in the email.
There are 10 letters to type in the text field of the license software.

I think the Ver. 5 license came via email because I don't have any
hardware here (books, discette etc.)

Why don't you go with the Eagle 9, it has supports for Fusion 360 integration and free access to limited features for non-commercial users.
Do you read "professional"? May be this is his point what he want.
The price is his argument, I think so.

Ok I get it don’t publish the license file. I thought you could look at it and see what’s wrong.
i just want to get on with the board I am designing!!
This letters in your image shown, are wrong.
The correct letters are on the activation key disk or on your license certificate you received from Cadsoft.

Your image error dialog says the "Installation Code " is (ten lower case
letters)
Maybe those uppercase letters are the problem
