DRC Error Message with Text in Copper

Hello!

 

Please see the attached file.

 

Using 4.16software version. A two layer board. Two lines of text are written

in the polygon labeled GND on each side, giving 4 error messages.

 

The rectangle around the LM1086 voltage regulator is a continuous wire, one

on each side of the board. The pour copper inside (and on each side of the

board) is acting as a heatsink.

 

As soon as I put text within this rectangle, I get the error message "DRC

Errors" related to the width.

 

What am I doing wrong. What parameter controls this.

    Well, you could always reduce the minimum width setting in DRC, but it

    would probably be best to talk to your board house to see what they

    recommend for minimum dimensions of features.

    Texts do look already pretty bold at Size = 0.05" and Ratio = 20. At 0.05

    a ratio of >=12 looks much better. Since text is relatively uncritical, I

    always ignore this DRC error, never ran into any problems. Worst thing you

    can get is that if the track width is far too narrow the text may be

    etched away completely. Even if it's partially incomplete you can still

    read the text. It never went that far on my boards, though.

     

    This superfluous text line width DRC "error" is a long standing issue. May

    I suggest at this point that there should be another "minimum width"

    setting for tracks which do not belong to nets, such as those texts.
