Modular Circuit Design

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 17 years ago

Is there any way in eagle to treat a complete schematic/circuit as kind of

an 'object' in a different circuit?  (i.e. Package a linear regulator and

its caps together into one 'part' that when placed on a schematic actually

adds the regulator and caps to the board.)

Nope. Only silly workarounds. Has been put on the wishlist years ago.

Yep, that's part of a hierarchical sheet structure which unfortunately

does not exist in Eagle. OrCad always had it. You draw up a schematic

and it shows up as a block on the sheet one up in the hierarchy. That's

the way it's supposed to be. I strongly believe that Eagle will never

make any serious inroads in industry without offering a hierarchical

    sheet structure.

I'm getting a bit fed up with Eagles lack of progress in this front, and

what  I've seen of V5 does not inspire me, a few long awaited, but minor

improvements, and half of the beta seems to be about debugging Qt.

When I first assessed Eagle about 10 years ago, I was also looking at

Labcenters Proteus package, and it was a pretty close thing, but Eagle ran a

special offer at the time which clinched things as the price was great.

Other than that the features were nearly identical.

However looking at them now the Proteus package seems to have made a lot

more progress.  I will seriously be looking at my budgets over the next

12-18 months and consider giving the Eagle upgrade a miss and switching

    package completely.

    cheers

    David

I am agree with you, I have write / ask on this forum what it is new with

    V5.

I am not impress for new feature if you see so many bug and beta version...

I am not see yet another CAD but perhaps it is time to do this.

Sure ORCAD will not be a candidate, a friend and me (before) use it and I

    will never use it again.
