Eagle usage questions

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 17 years ago

My company just purchased Eagle and have the following questions.

Schematics

i) Is it able to select a group of components and then move or copy instead

moving one by one?

ii)Is it able to copy from one schematic and then paste into another

schematic? Just like we do in MS Words or Excel.

PCB layout

i) Miter function

Is it possible to have all the joints on the trace miter instead of

doing one by one?

ii) Change trace width

Is it possible to change width of the trace as a whole instead of every

segment?

iii) Is it possible to edit component on the worksheet instead from the

library. That is, I can modify a component and use only on the specific

layout and no need to build library for future use.

iv) During modification of traces path, I have first to delete the existing

traces segment by segment first and then route the new trace. Is it possible

that after I finish routing the new trace the old trace will be removed

automatically?

Power tools v4.15

I have tried non-registered version but the following questions

encountered.

    i) cannot import dxf schematic

ii) some of the traces are missed when importing dxf PCB layout file.

iii) During gerber import, only 1 layer at a time. Is it possible to

import all layers together?

Sorry for my naive questions cos I am really new to Eagle.

Thank you for your kind attention!

My company just purchased Eagle and have the following questions.

Is that the Murata like in www dot murata dot com ? Just curious.

    Schematics

    i) Is it able to select a group of components and then move or copy

    instead

    moving one by one?

    GROUP, then MOVE (right click).

    Try HELP GROUP, HELP MOVE.

ii)Is it able to copy from one schematic and then paste into another

schematic? Just like we do in MS Words or Excel.

    PCB layout

    i) Miter function

Is it possible to have all the joints on the trace miter instead of

    doing one by one?

You mean applying constant radii to all joints? No. Does not make much sense

as long as there is no automatic push & shove. Can lead to numerous

    collisions otherwise.

    ii) Change trace width

Is it possible to change width of the trace as a whole instead of every

    segment?

GROUP, then CHANGE WIDTH (right click).

    Try HELP...

iii) Is it possible to edit component on the worksheet instead from the

library. That is, I can modify a component and use only on the specific

layout and no need to build library for future use.

No. I agree there's clearly too much messing around with component libraries

    in Eagle.

iv) During modification of traces path, I have first to delete the

    existing

traces segment by segment first and then route the new trace. Is it

    possible

that after I finish routing the new trace the old trace will be removed

    automatically?

You should be able to modify traces in nearly any way you want without

    deleting them:

    CHANGE WIDTH,

    MIRROR,

    SPLIT,

and so on. Refer to the manual to learn more.

    Power tools v4.15

I have tried non-registered version but the following questions

    encountered.

       i) cannot import dxf schematic

Without having worked with Power Tools, I would guess that DXF does not

contain the necessary information to allow a direct conversion to an Eagle

schematics. This is a graphical format without support for netlists, for

instance. DXFs can be imported, but only as plain graphical data.

    T.

ii) some of the traces are missed when importing dxf PCB layout file.

iii) During gerber import, only 1 layer at a time. Is it possible to

    import all layers together?
