NEW Library Inconsistent... again!

Okay, so at least SOMETHING is consistent!... THE PROBLEM KEEPS COMING BACK!

I did ALL of this in 5 minutes without opening or closing any new

windows:  I opened a new library, created the one and only part I

needed.  I opened a new schematic, did a "use -*" then a "use [my

library.lbr]" so my only library of choice after an "add" is the one I

just made.  I added my one part 12 times.  I did a "board" command and

arranged the headers.  I decided the silks didn't represent the size of

the headers properly with the ejectors/latches and increased the silks

in the library.  I then did an "update all" and nothing changed.

WTF?!?!?  WTFF?!?!?

I then deleted them all from the schematic.  I simply typed "add" and

added the 12 headers AGAIN into the schematic.  When I looked at the

board it had all 12 headers with their latest versions.  WTFFFFFF?!?!?! F

I'm mad...

Let's hold off a bit, something is wrong.  Not sure what yet.

What is your library path in Control Panel?  Does it include the directory

in which your new library is contained?  If not, that is probably your

    problem.

The order of the path also matters.  The update will search the path until

it finds a library with the same basename (eg. Ttl.lbr).  It will then use

that for updating, ignoring any other library named ttl.lbr that occurs in

other paths that are in the list but occur after the first one found.  So if

you new library happens to have the same basename as another library then

    you might have an issue.

The USE command simply makes the library available.  But if its not in the

path I don't think that the update will find it.

So give us some of this info and we can probably help get you setup and

going.  This does work when understood properly.  Now getting it setup

sometimes is a bit tricky depending on your situation.

    Cheers,

    James.
