how to create a "void" in a polygon shape?

autodeskguest
autodeskguest over 17 years ago

Hey folks..  using v4.16r2 here..

We have two polygon shapes on top layer, GND and AGND, and are using RANK

properly to create AGND as an isolated layer (the two connected by a filter

network) ...

However on layer2 I want GND everywhere with a VOID in the same shape as

AGND ...  can't figure out how to do this..

Any ideas how to create "voids" in polygon shapes?

thanks!

..dane

I don't think there is a way to exclude an area from a polygon for an inner

layer, since there are no "Restrict" layers for the inner layers.  Instead,

I would simply draw two overlapping GND polygons on layer2, leaving the

voided area between the two polygons.

You can do this with a single polygon, shape being as follows:

                       slight overlap

                                v

                              • ***************

    •                        * *                           *

    •                        * *                           *

    •          ******** *********           *

    •          *                                *          *

    •          *      (void here)         *          *

    •          *                                *          *

    •          ******************          *

    •                   (filled here)                    *

    •                                                        *

    ******************************

Hope the picture and the idea gets through.

Thanks guys ..   Yes, both of your reponses came through.  We will try both

options and see what works best for us ...

    thanks!

It should work. You just have to take care that the "slight overlap" is made

right. You essentially start with a "C", then almost close the gap as in

    "O". See attachments.
