As an owner of v4.xx (I forget which), Can I just download version 5.0
and use the license file I have or what?

Hello Peter,
If you got your 4.1 license in the last few months (not sure of the exact
cut off date) then it was good for a free upgrade to 5.0. So in this case
you actually get a 4.1 and 5.0 license.
If the 4.1 license is old enough (like my personal license was) then you
have to upgrade to 5.0.
