I'm sill more an software raccoon but hope to get into hardware like Raspberry Pi and Arduino. But my real thing is right now is leraning to program arm to make my mac work with thing's like the PI? I know we run Raspberry PI OS and google adirod on the MAC with emulation. That's not an issue with me; getting started is since this is new to me.

    I have a friend with little technical experience, he is now on the way to be an excellent software programmer, through self-learning resources on the Internet, mostly all free resources.

    There's lots of courses at freecodecamp.org, I'd suggest doing the Python ones there if it's a first programming language for you. Others may disagree. It's just a suggestion that might get you productive quickly until you're confident to try other languages.

    Also search out 'Intro to computer science' on youtube, it's a good primer for anyone curious about programming but starting from scratch.

    Also, the EAGLE space isn't relevant for this question.

    Finally, check out the Raspberry Pi magazine, it is free to download, and is intended for complete beginners.

    I second the advice for online free courses.

    Also see Coursera.org and edX.org. They also have groups of courses they suggest as an intro to computer programming, so if you have trouble deciding just pick what they recommend. It's free, but also if you want a certificate you can get that for a small reasonable fee.

    Either way, keep track of the courses you finish, as even without a certificate this can be useful to show future employers.

    I think that's good advice too. The newer dev boards, as well as Raspberry Pi, all seem to be heading for Python and CircuitPython in the future.
