Layer-to-layer copying

How can I copy information from one layer to another?

I would like to have component Names appear in the

silk screen (tPlace), so I am looking for a way to

copy the tNames layer onto the tPlace layer.

Seems there should be an easy way to do this, but

I'm new to Eagle, and haven't found it yet.

I'm just finishing up a board which I

plan to send out to one of the board houses that

accepts  .BRD files directly, and I assume they will

want all the silk screen info collected into one layer.

Thanks for any suggestions.

COPY it first, then CHANGE the layer.

    However, ...

... normally, tNames is also included in the silkscreen (along with

tPlace). So all component names are already in the silkscreen.

Wrong assumption. Normally, tPlace and tNames are output together for

the silkscreen. Anyway, I think you'd better clarify this with the board

house - and this applies to all other possible layer interpretations,

too. If you give clear and strict advice, they will do it exactly that way.

This is one of the reasons why I always provide gerber files to the

board houses. Layer usage sometimes differs, and I don't want to discuss

with them after having received bad boards.

I've never sent a *.BRD file to a board house, but I assume that they

would combine tPlace, tNames, and tValues into a top silk-screen layer.

To be sure, include a text file that states where each layer belongs.

When I created Gerber files, I use gerb274x.cam for 2 layer boards.  It

combines layer-20 (Dimension), layer-21 (tPlace), layer-25 (tNames), and

    layer-27 (tValues) into a top silk-screen layer.
